By the Countertop Harvest team · Last updated · How we choose products
SeedsNow is a family-owned-and-operated seed company focused on organic, non-GMO seed for home growers. For a countertop, their strengths are big variety packs and sprouting seed: lots of herbs or sprouts in one order, each packed separately.
We haven’t grown with these products ourselves yet. Everything below comes from the brand’s own pages (checked October 19, 2026) and our herb guides, and we’ll add our own notes and photos when we have them.
Who it’s for
- Cooks who want to try many herbs without buying packets one by one.
- Sprout and microgreen fans: the sprouting packs list approximate seed counts for every variety.
- Seed savers: the Seed Bank versions come in resealable Mylar bags meant for storage.
What we like and what we don’t
What we like
- Open-pollinated, non-GMO seed in the Seed Bank, so you can save your own
- Each variety packed on its own, so you sow what you want and keep the rest
- Sprouting packs list seed counts, like about 30,400 alfalfa seeds
- The Seed Bank includes 25 seed starting pellets
What we don’t
- Prices change with frequent sales: the Culinary Variety Pack was $19.99 on Oct 18 and $39.99 on Oct 19, 2026
- Some herbs in the packs (borage, fennel, lavender) are big plants that do better outdoors
- Herb pack listings don’t give seed counts per variety
- The site is busy with pop-ups and countdown banners

How it fits a countertop herb setup
- Sow a few, store the rest. A 15-herb pack is more than one windowsill can hold. Start three or four easy ones (basil, chives, parsley, oregano) and keep the other packets cool and dry.
- Sprouts need no light at all to start. A jar on the counter is the fastest fresh food you can grow. Our microgreens and sprouts guide covers the basics.
- Give herbs real light. Iowa State says most indoor herbs need around 8 hours of direct light, or a grow light for 12–16 hours. See growing herbs without sunlight.
Free and cheaper ways to start
If you only want basil, a single packet or a split grocery-store plant costs far less than a variety pack. Our herb seed kit guide compares SeedsNow with Botanical Interests and others, including the cheapest options.
