How we make money

Affiliate links pay for the site. Here’s exactly which ones, and what we don’t do.

By the Countertop Harvest team · Last updated · How we choose products

Countertop Harvest is free to read. It’s paid for by affiliate links: when you buy something through some of our links, the store pays us a small commission. The price you pay is the same.

Programs we’re part of

ProgramWhat it coversTypical commission
Amazon AssociatesSmart gardens, grow lights, Lost Coast Plant Therapy and other gear on AmazonA few percent; Amazon sets the rate by category
Botanical Interests (via Awin)Seeds and seed bundlesA percentage of the sale
SeedsNow (via Refersion)Seeds, variety packs and sprouting seedA percentage of the sale
Click & Grow (via Rakuten)Smart gardens and plant pods (joined October 2026)A percentage of the sale

Links that earn us nothing

Plenty of our links don’t pay us at all, and we keep them anyway because they’re useful: links to Gardyn, direct links to some makers’ own sites, and every link to a university extension service or other source. We don’t earn from Gardyn in any form.

What we don’t do

How we keep it fair

Commission rates don’t decide what we recommend. Many guides start with free fixes, like more light or a better cut, before any product. Read how we choose products for the details.

Where the disclosure lives

Every page with affiliate links carries a disclosure at the bottom, and links that can earn us money are marked as sponsored in the page code. Questions? Email [email protected].
